What is Search Engine Optimization
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results.
You can attract all the visitors in the world, but if they’re coming to your site because Google tells them you’re a resource for food but in the end you’re a musician, that is not quality traffic. And it will have negative impact on your website.
It is called Bounce Rate, and what does bounce rate do is it that it shows you % of people who left your website front page after visiting it.
If your bounce rate is high it means that people who visit your website leave it fast because its not what they are looking for. And in the end it will tell google that you are really not that good `result` to show to those people and google will index you lower than other websites, and you will lose your rankings a bit and it can hurt your website a lot.
That is why you need to do SEO for your website and keywords that are related to your niche and all about your website. Your goal must be to attract visitors who are genuinely interested in products that you offer. You must write and produce quality content only, that is always the best way of generating quality traffic. If people know its quality they will come back again or share with friends. Once you have the right people clicking from those search engine results pages (SERPs), it will say google that your website is best result they can offer to their audience and it will stay there in top rankings. So you need to go for that goal and that mindset.
Difference between quality content and poor content:
Quality Traffic – Increased Traffic – Returning Visitors – New Visitors
Poor Traffic – No Traffic – No Returning Visitors
As we know the majority of internet traffic is driven by search engines like google, bing, and yahoo. Even tho social media and other types of traffic can generate you visitors to website , search engines remains one of best navigation method for all internet users. Search engines are unique in a way that they provide targeted traffic, people are getting what they search for in their results. If search engines can`t find your website they you are missing big opportunities to generate traffic to your website and that is why SEO is crucial in every business.
ON Page SEO and OFF Page SEO
When it comes to doing search engine optimization there are 2 crucial steps one is ON Page seo and other is OFF Page seo that is going in the background of your website.
ON Page SEO Includes:
1. Optimization of website,
2. Increasing website loading speed,
3. Fixing meta tags,
5. Meta description,
6. Adding keywords,
7. URL optimization
8. Making sitemap, and robots.txt.
9. Internal structure of links
10. HTML and CSS
Optimization of website and increased load speed of your pages basically means that you MUST have fast website hosting and not to big website pages in size ( I`m talking about photos, videos and other content). It will slow download speed of your website a lot and user experience will be poor. If your website has too many images and videos what you need to do is to optimize them with some software that will reduce their size. I use file optimizer software and its been good for me for now, but I use it mostly to reduce size of images.
Google loading time is less than a second and if you are using an e-Commerce website you need to aim bellow 2 seconds load time per page, according to latest statistics research. You can check your website loading time by checking on google, just search for website page speed checker and see your results or try here.
Next thing that you need to look for is your website page titles and tags, every page that is indexed on google have title and meta description, title should be max length of 60-70 characters, when meta description is 160 characters, if you type above , well your text won`t be seen as whole section in google results, optimizing this is very important and you need to optimize your every main page with this.
Just make sure that it`s around this numbers. Your main focus should be in fixing title and meta descriptions for pages such as: homepage, contact, about us, terms of service, policy privacy, faq and then move to your other pages, products, categories etc. If you are building up your brand then for title of your main page I recommend using just keyword named as your brand with some other keyword that has search volume, it may not have big search volume which is likely to happen in most cases but if you are building brand it takes time for people to start searching your brand name. If you are not building up brand then you can use any keyword as your title that have nice search volume, or both. What I do usually when I`m building up websites and doing SEO I always aim for keyword with 5000-10000 search volume for my main keyword that will be on homepage, it`s hard to rank for it but when you do you are in gold mine. And I use lower search volume long tail keywords for my other websites pages, products, news, etc.
